It was an event which momentarily shifted all attention from catastrophic times we are living in for last more than a year. It was also perhaps the most spectacular public event around the world in past 15 months. It was an event which tourism industry across the globe had set its eyes upon to get some rejuvenation. It was a magnificent showcase of our shared heritage and culture. It would have been certainly unfortunate for all those who missed The Pharaohs’ Golden Parade in Cairo last evening. भारतीय मंदिरों की स्थापत्य कला व शिल्प में खजुराहो की जगह अद्वितीय है। शिल्प की दृष्टि से ये बेजोड़ हैं ही, इनपर स्त्री-पुरुष प्रेम की बेमिसाल आकृतियां गढ़ी गई हैं। इसलिए इन्हें हमेशा अन्यत्र गढ़े गए शिल्पों के मानक के तौर पर देखा जाता है। उस दौर में ऐसे कई शिल्प गढ़े गए। कुछ ध्वस्त हो गए तो कुछ गुमनामी में खो गए। राजस्थान के अलवर जिले में स्थित सरिस्का नेशनल पार्क के इलाके में बना नीलकंठेश्वर मंदिर भी अपने शिल्प व उनमें मानवीय प्रेम के चित्रण के लिए अरावली का खजुराहो कहा जाता है सबसे भुतहा जगह के रूप में विख्यात भानगढ़ को देखने के तुरंत बाद हम नीलकंठ पहुंचे। मैं यकीन से कह सकता हूं कि भानगढ़ में मौजूद लोगों में से 10 फीसदी से कम ने ही इस मंदिर के बारे में सुना होगा और जिन्होंने सुना होगा उनमें से भी 10 फीसदी से कम ही यहां कभी गए होंगे। कांकवाड़ी किले की ही तरह, जब हम नीलकंठ पहुंचे तो ...

‘Vaccinations first’, CDC to cruise ship industry

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention on Friday issued new guidance to the cruise ship industry, including the need for COVID-19 vaccinations, a necessary step before passenger voyages can resume. The new technical instructions, the first update since October, include increasing from weekly to daily reporting frequency of COVID-19 cases and illnesses and implementing routine testing of all crew based on a ship’s COVID-19 status and establishing a plan and timeline for vaccination of crew and port personnel. “COVID-19 vaccination efforts will be critical in the safe resumption of passenger operations,” the CDC said. Visiting a military base in 2014, Ukrainian artist and icon painter Oleksandr Klymenko was struck by how much the bottom and cover of a wooden ammunition box could resemble a Christian icon panel. He borrowed one of the boxes from the base and painted a Byzantine icon featuring the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child on its cover. Klymenko said the icon looked at least 800 years old.
