Arming each participant with a paddle, bucket, sieve and picker stick, ‘Clean Up Kayak’ is a tour of Australia’s Sydney Harbour with a difference. The sole objective, says founder Laura Stone, is to clear rubbish from the harbour - and business is thriving. “We’ve been quite surprised, even through the pandemic, we’ve been very busy,” Stone said. Goa will host only two carnival float parades instead of six this year in light of the COVID- 19 pandemic, a senior official said on Thursday. The parades will be held on February 13 and 14 in Panaji and Margao in South Goa respectively due to curbs imposed to contain the spread of infection, said Nikhil Desai, managing director of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation. The tourism department usually hosts parades at six cities across the state, and this would be the first time in the history of the coastal state's tourism that only two parades will be held, he said. !function(e,t,c,a){if(!e.fwn&&(a="fwn_script",n=e.fwn=function(){ n.callMethod?n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments) },e._fwn||(e._fwn=n),n.queue=[],!t.getElementById(a))){var d...

The total number of birds has increased from 34,284 in 2020 to 93,491 in 2021, implying a rise of 175 per cent, Sahai said. This rise in the number of birds visiting Kaziranga can be attributed to improved habitat management and water conservation measures carried out by the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve authority. The third annual census was conducted to record and estimate waterfowl and winter migratory birds, and to monitor and assess the health of wetlands, he told reporters. !function(e,t,c,a){if(!e.fwn&&(a="fwn_script",n=e.fwn=func...

With hotels across the world feeling the financial pain of travel restrictions to curb the coronavirus pandemic, Giri said his central Nepal community was relying mainly on Nepali tourists, who come every year drawn by the wintry weather. But this year, the bare ground means few visitors. “Many domestic and local tourists come to this area to play in the snow whenever there is snowfall,” Giri told ...
