Chardham Yatra may be opened in phased manner

The Uttarakhand government is considering a phased opening of the Chardham Yatra after Covid subsides and the coronavirus induced curfew is lifted. It is being planned to open the Chardham Yatra in a phased manner if the pandemic subsides in the coming weeks though nothing has been finalised yet, Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj said on Thursday. He had met Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat to discuss problems faced by the tourism industry due to the second wave of Covid. In the first phase, the yatra will be opened for residents of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts where the four Himalayan temples known as Chardham are located. Arthur Muir, 75, scaled the peak earlier this month, beating the record by another American, Bill Burke, at age 67. Tsang Yin-hung, 45, of Hong Kong scaled the summit from the base camp in 25 hours and 50 minutes, and became the fastest female climber. National parks and tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh, which had been shut amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be kept open from June 1 to June 30, state forest minister Vijay Shah said on Saturday. National parks and tiger reserves have remained shut since the last two months as a precautionary measure during the pandemic. "Madhya Pradesh is known as a tiger and leopard state. National parks and tiger reserves had been shut due to the coronavirus outbreak. We have decided to keep these parks and reserves open from June 1 to June 30," Shah said in a video statement. This is the ‘earliest surviving Hindu painting’

In a historical event marking the revelation of the lost tradition of ancient Indian art and the earliest surviving painting from the Hindu tradition (photographed and digitally restored by Benoy K Behl), dignitaries from across the world came together to celebrate the power of Indian culture. This is said to be the oldest surviving painting of Hindu tradition. The painting named- ‘Queen and Attendants’ is from cave no 3 of Badami Caves. This 6th century cave is located in Bagalkote district of Karnataka. Painting was photographed and then digitally restored by well known photographer and documentary film maker Benoy K Behl in 2001.
