The City of San Francisco has now aligned its face mask mandate with the latest recommendations from the CDC. This means that fully vaccinated adults can exercise or gather in small groups outdoors without masks. However, masks are required for entering all businesses, public buildings, and public transportation, and are encouraged if you find yourself in a large group outdoors.
The following activities are now allowed or expanded:
- Bars, Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries – Indoor service for establishments without meals may begin at 50% capacity and can seat up to 8 people per table without limitations to the number of households.
- Indoor Family Entertainment – Activities including ice and roller skating, arcades, golf, playgrounds, mini-golf, pool halls, movie theaters and bowling alleys may open or expand to 50% capacity.
- Outdoor community sporting events – Outdoor events like runs, walks, marathons and other endurance events can have up to 1,500 participants, 3,000 participants with proof of vaccination.
- Indoor Ticketed and Seated Performances, Spectator Sports and Other Live Events – Indoor ticketed and seated events—such as live sports, theater arts, and musical performances—may expand up to 50% capacity, provided that the venue has an approved health and safety plan and the State’s social distancing guidelines can be maintained. Masks are mandatory unless when eating and drinking.
- Outdoor Ticketed and Seated Performances, Spectator Sports, and other Live Events – Outdoor ticketed and seated events with live audiences may expand up to 67% capacity, provided that the venue has an approved health and safety plan and the State’s social distancing guidelines can be maintained. Masks are mandatory unless when eating and drinking.
- Outdoor Arts, Music, and Theater Performances and Festivals – Organized outdoor arts and performance events may be held without reservations and seating requirements for up to 50 audience members.
- Meetings and Private Events – Indoor private events—such as meetings, conventions, and receptions—may resume with up to 200 attendees. Attendees must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. Face coverings are still required. Outdoor private events for up to 400 people may also resume, provided they follow the same guidelines.
- Outdoor Dining – Outdoor dining will expand to up to 8 people per table without any limitation on the number of households.
- Indoor Dining – Indoor dining capacity will expand to 50%. The cap of 200 patrons is lifted, is lifted. Tables are still limited to 8 people without any limitation on the number of households.
- Tour Boats and Buses – There is no longer any City-mandated limit on the capacity for these businesses. Indoor business areas may open if required safety protocols are followed.
- Zoos, Aquariums, and Museums – Group reservations and guided tours may resume.
