There is no industry which did not have to face the brunt of the pandemic. Entertainment industry is among the ones with most suffering along with travel and hospitality sector. Now every industry is trying its own ways to come out of the blues. The Brussels music scene is going through a crisis never experienced before. But, now in a move that can show some light to artists all over the world, to support the music scene, visit.brussels, Le Botanique and Kiosk Radio are launching artist residences and original live streaming which will take place all summer. Belgian artists will follow each other on the decks or on stage, in live performances. Their shows will be broadcast via the Facebook pages of the three partners. It is a fantastic way of lending support to the local music scene.

The Brussels’ music scene is rich and extremely diverse. From electro to hip-hop, and not forgetting jazz, Brussels artists have won fame at home and their success frequently surpasses borders. It’s now been several months since the Brussels music scene came to a halt. The current health crisis means they are still unable to perform as normal. To support artists, numerous individual and group initiatives have emerged in Brussels and Belgium.

From this week onwards, visit.brussels launches a weekly live streaming broadcast on Wednesdays, from iconic venues in the capital to give their support to various performers from the Brussels music scene. They have already confirmed the participation of C12, Fuse, Listen! Festival, Bénédiction and Le Botanique. More will join in the coming weeks. During the free broadcasts direct from visit.brussels’ Facebook page, the public will be able to support the clubs and venues involved by buying vouchers to be exchanged for concert or entrance tickets that can be used once the industry gets going again.

Similarly, Le Botanique has just launched a summer residence programme which will enable 16 Belgian bands and artists to work on their latest projects in optimum conditions. Between 21 June and 21 September, several plastic artists will prepare exhibitions from the 2020-2021 programme in the Museum and Gallery. Artists from the musical scene such as Glauque, Glass Museum, Under the Reefs Orchestra, Françoiz Breut & Marc Melià, BRNS, etc. will reside in the Botanique to rehearse their tours and to present their new project in the rooms of Botanique. At the end of each residence, the Botanique will offer live streamed concerts, in real time, at 20hOO. If they wish to support the work presented by each artist, the public will be able to make a small donations which are given to each artist in their entirety.

In order to support the local music scene which has been seriously affected by the Covid-19 crisis, Kiosk Radio will broadcast 10 live sessions from various key venues and clubs in the Brussels music scene throughout the summer. The tour began on 29 June with C12. They will then be followed live on the decks by the unmissable resident artists VK, Fuse, Listen! Fertival x Buda Bruxelles, le Botanique, etc. During the free broadcasts  the public will be invited to support the various clubs and concert venues involved, by buying vouchers that can be exchanged for concert tickets or entrances to events once the measures set by the Belgian National Security Council allow it.
