Enjoy Indian Culture at INDIA SUMMER DAYS 2024

Authentic program is part of DAS FEST in the Günther-Klotz-Anlage Karlsruhe

Music, dance, culinary delights, a bazaar, yoga, hands-on activities and information about India – all in the heart of Karlsruhe: this year’s INDIA SUMMER DAYS will once again offer a wide range of activities from Friday to Sunday, 19 to 21 July 2024. Parallel to the activities around the DAS FEST stages in the Günther-Klotz-Anlage, the “Indian village” will once again be integrated in the area of the active playground with free admission.

Whether classical, folk or popular music, table or string instruments, classical dance styles from many regions of India, the Bollywood moves familiar from films, cricket demonstration, puppet show, workshops or hands-on yoga: the Indian village offers numerous insights, allowing visitors to really immerse themselves! Join, enjoy and make your own experiences.

Indian festivals in particular are a series of joyful moments that have always brought people together, promoted happiness and spread culture – and they can be experienced in Karlsruhe.

– Whether Bharatanatyam dance, music from Karnataka or Bollywood dance: the Indian dance and music school “Lasya Priya Fine Arts” is promoting and spreading Indian culture.

– The Dindi Dance Group presents Indian festivals through cultural performances

– The Kirtaniyas combine melodious, dance-orientated world beat music with the call and response chanting of ancient Sanskrit mantras.

– Shany Mathew and her dancers from the Nisari Kalakshetra Dance Academy present scenes and tales from Indian mythology

– The Revathi Dance Academy shows how Indian dance and music can be brought to life, showing a dance journey through the whole of India.

The traditional and modern aspects of Indian culture can be experienced at the INDIA SUMMER DAYS, with the stalls in the village offering spices, body painting with henna, clothing and textiles, handicrafts, singing bowls, incense, jewellery, pictures, books and decorative material as well as information on Indian culture and tourism!

Yoga has always been part of INDIA SUMMER DAYS. This year, too, the yoga programmes are an invitation to join in, an open and free offer for anyone interested, regardless of age, life and professional situation or gender. Whether “Relaxation and Yoga”, “Breath and Flow” or “Refreshment and Yoga”: together with partner Santulan Veda, there will once again be free programmes for visitors on Saturday and Sunday this year.
