Pre-arrival negative COVID test now not needed for entry into Fiji

Fiji has made two very significant changes in entry requirements for travellers. Fully vaccinated travellers to Fiji will no longer be required to produce a pre-arrival negative Covid-19 test to enter Fiji. This move reduces costs and lends greater convenience to those travelling to Fiji. These changes have been made effective from Sunday, 1 May 2022.

Besides, the vaccination requirement for entry into Fiji has also been widened. All travellers 16 years and above must now display proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to entering the country. A 14-day waiting period prior to travel following full vaccination applies. Fiji COVID-19 recognised vaccines include AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson (Janssen), Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Coronavac (Sinovac), Covishield, BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm), Covaxin and Sputnik V.

For being considered as fully vaccinated one must have received the recommended number of initial doses (usually 2) of a vaccine that Fiji recognizes. Vaccine booster shots are considered as additional protection to full-vaccination.

However, the current requirement to book an in-country Covid-19 RAT test, prior to departing for Fiji, remains. The test must be done within 48 – 72 hours of arrival and must be booked prior to departing for Fiji. Proof of this test must be shown at your point of departure. This also applies to travellers transiting Fiji for more than 48 hours.

Travellers who have turned positive within 30 days of travelling into Fiji and are entering Fiji with a proof of the isolation period served from a credible institution or a fit to fly certificate from a medical practitioner, the prepaid in-country RAT requirement does not apply.

Additionally, insurance (for anyone not on a Fijian passport) is a must and that should include medical coverage for covid-19.
