आप रोमांटिक सफर पर हो, वाइल्डलाइफ टूरिज्म के लिए या किसी रोमांच की तलाश में, परंबिकुलम टाइगर रिजर्व के जंगल और जानवर कभी आपको निराश नहीं करेंगे। यह वो जंगल है जिसे मशहूर पक्षी विज्ञानी सालिम अली जैसे दिग्गजों ने अपनी लेखनी व चित्रों से खासा सराहा है और अमूर्त रूप दिया है। परंबिकुलम इसलिए भी खास है क्योंकि यह देश के सबसे नए टाइगर रिजर्व में से एक है। इसे फरवरी 2010 में ही देश के 38वें टाइगर रिजर्व का दर्जा मिला था। परंबिकुलम टाइगर रिजर्व केरल के पल्लकड जिले में पल्लकड शहर से लगभग सौ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर चित्तूर तालुक में है। यहां की पहाडिय़ों की ऊंचाई समुद्र तल से 300 मीटर से लेकर 1438 मीटर तक है। केरल जैसी जगह पर 1400 मीटर से ऊपर की ऊंचाई मौसम में खासा बदलाव ला देती है। बाकी केरल के विपरीत परंबिकुलम में बड़ा खुशनुमा मौसम रहता है। यहां का तापमान सामान्य तौर पर 15 डिग्री से 32 डिग्री ...

“Mahabali frog” may be Kerala’s official amphibian

The purple frog, one of the rarest frog species endemic to the Western Ghats, would soon be declared as Kerala's official amphibian. A senior forest officer said a proposal for declaring the purple frog, also known as pignose frog, as state's amphibian, is in the active consideration of the state government. Kerala on Monday opened its tourism destinations, barring beaches, for visitors by strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocol, signalling the revival of the revenue-generating industry that remained shut for the last seven months following the outbreak of the pandemic. Nilgiri Tahr is endemic to the hill ranges of the Western Ghats of Southern peninsular India. Those who have travelled frequently to Lahaul & Spiti can find the similarity to Himalayan Tahr. They are indeed closely related and so is the Arabian Tahr which is found in arid mountains of Sultanate of Oman. Travel to Eravikulam National park can’t be complete without mentioning Nilgiri Tahr. Two reasons for it, firstly this animal can be seen only in these hills of the park, and secondly, this is an endangered animal under the IUCN red list. Padmanabha Swamy temple to open from Wednesday

After over five months, devotees will be allowed to offer worship at the famous Lord Padmanabha Swamy temple here from Wednesday adhering to strict COVID-19 protocols. The temple had not allowed worshippers since March 21 due to the pandemic. "We have made adequate arrangements for devotees. Floor markings have been made to ensure social distancing of devotees. Barricades have also been set up," temple sources said.
