The fourth cycle of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018, has entered the Guinness World Record for being the world’s largest camera trap wildlife survey. The citation at the Guinness World Record website reads- “The fourth iteration of the survey – conducted in 2018-19 - was the most comprehensive to date, in terms of both resource and data amassed. Camera traps (outdoor photographic devices fitted with motion sensors that start recording when an animal passes by) were placed in 26,838 locations across 141 different sites and surveyed an effective area of 121,337 square kilometres (46,848 square miles). Shooting of films at ASI monuments is going to become a bit easier, at least procedurally. Government is planning to decrease the permission time required for shooting. Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent charge) Prahlad Singh Patel in a virtual conversation with FICCI Frames said that there will be no need to wait longer for permission to shoot films in any of the monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Patel said that film makers will get permission of shooting within 3 weeks after applying online on the ASI website.
