Home>>खबरनामा>>Anguilla is named the best island in Caribbean

For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Anguilla is ranked No. 1 on the Travel + Leisure 2020 World’s Best Awards list of the Top Islands in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. Readers rated islands based on natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people/friendliness, value. Anguilla also ranked #7 on the Top 25 Islands in the World, the only Caribbean island to make the list.

Anguilla offers amazing combination of truly spectacular beaches, fabulous cuisine, stunning boutique resorts and genuine hospitality, which keep guests coming back year after year. In celebration of the 25th Anniversary, Travel + Leisure is hosting a global, social media “Toast + Post” that is running from July 8 when the winners are released through August 31. Readers and winners around the world are encouraged to TOAST – raise a glass to the very best in travel and then… POST – to take a photo or video of the moment and post it on social media, using the hashtags #TLToast and #TLWorldsBest along with their brands. Anguilla fans are encouraged to post on all the ATB’s social platforms using the Hashtag #MyAnguilla.

Each year, for the past 25 years, the readers of Travel + Leisure — the largest travel media brand in the United States, with an audience of 6.7 million — share their thoughts on destinations, hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, rental-car agencies, and more in their annual survey.

Tucked away in the northern Caribbean, Anguilla is a shy beauty with a warm smile. A slender length of coral and limestone fringed with green, the island is ringed with 33 beaches, considered by savvy travellers and top travel magazines, to be the most beautiful in the world. Anguilla lies just off the beaten path, so it has retained a charming character and appeal. Yet because it can be conveniently reached from two major gateways: Puerto Rico and St. Martin, and by private air, it is a hop and a skip away. Romance? Barefoot elegance? Unfussy chic? And untrammelled bliss? Anguilla is Beyond Extraordinary.

In another award, and to no one’s surprise, Charleston topped the list as best U.S. city. The Holy City is constantly raking in “best city” awards. Travel + Leisure even deemed it best in the world back in 2016. Keep in mind the cities on this list are designated as top travel destinations around the globe, so things like long-term liveability are not necessarily a factor. The awards are chosen based on answers from an annual readers’ survey in which Travel + Leisure readers rate their experiences in categories that range from hotels (Charleston’s best hotel, according to readers, is the Wentworth Mansion) to cruise lines to airlines.

However, currently Charleston also tops the charts in the state of South Carolina for new COVID cases per 100K people per day. In a press release, Travel + Leisure Editor in Chief Jacqui Gifford said: “As the world begins to open up again, these comprehensive lists are the ultimate resource for planning your next getaway when the time is right.” And, the right time to travel America is yet to come.  Still, if you do choose to visit Charleston soon, be sure to wear a mask in all public places and outside when you cannot maintain a distance of six feet from other people. If you are heading to No. 1 hotel, Wentworth Mansion, you can read up on all the safety protocols they’re enacting during the current international pandemic.
