Sixteen days after Chadi Mubarak Yatra left Srinagar for the Holy Cave and two days after Defence Minister visited the cave shrine, Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday cancelled this year’s Amarnath Yatra in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. A day after Srinagar was again put on a partial lockdown due to surge in COVID-19 cases, Jammu and Kashmir administration announced that they are opening the Union Territory for the tourists from July 14, albeit only for those coming in through flight. That means, road entry points will remain closed. The administration has formulated a set of guidelines for tourists. Around 700 tourists from various parts of country have visited Himachal Pradesh in the first five days of the last week. On Saturday 4th July state government had allowed entry of tourists into the state with certain conditions pertaining to COVID-19 health protocol.
