Gujarat gets its first seaplane service

You can now travel on a seaplane between the Statue of Unity near Kevadiya in Gujarat's Narmada district and Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. This is the first ever seaplane service for Gujarat and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The twin-engine plane covers a distance of around 200 kms in 40 minutes. The journey by road to cover this distance takes around five hours. Floating jetties and water aerodrome buildings have been built at the riverfront and at pond-3 near Sardar Sarovar Dam to enable passengers to board and alight from the plane. Goa govt allows casinos to reopen from Nov 1

The Goa cabinet on Wednesday decided to allow casinos to reopen in the state from November 1 by following the COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The coastal state has six offshore and around a dozen onshore casinos, which have been shut since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in March this year. In order to boost tourism amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the reopening of the world-famous Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) has been preponed to November 1. "Strict COVID protocals for the tourists as well as those visiting DTR have been imposed this season starting November 1. Any violation of the protocol would be taken seriously," Field director, DTR Sanjay Kumar Pathak said. Normally, the tourist season in Dudhwa starts on November 15 and concludes on June 15 every year. The Kaziranga National Park (KNP), famed for one-horned rhinoceros, was opened to tourists on Wednesday, after being closed for seven months due to COVID-19 pandemic. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal formally reopened the KNP and expressed hope that this will revive the states tourism sector which has been severely hit by the pandemic. The KNP remains shut for around five months every year since April-end during the monsoon season when floods also occur in the state. The Rudranath temple in the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit of Uttarakhand closed for devotees on Saturday in view of the approaching winter during which it remains snowbound. The priests bathed the presiding deity, Shiva, with panchamrit at brahma muhurta (auspicious hour) in the morning and offered special prayers, the temple's chief priest Ved Prakash said. A symbolic image of the deity was then carried in a palanquin decorated with flowers to the Gopinath Temple in Gopeshwar where he will be worshipped during the winter months, he said.
