The fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 was one of the most important events in recent history. It marked the end of the division of Berlin – and the entire world – into East and West and saw the end of the Cold War that had lasted for decades. At the same time, the fall of the Wall was also the starting point for reunification just under a year later. In 2024, Berlin celebrates the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
