Air Astana has celebrated 20 years of connecting Kazakhstan and India with the launch of new three times a week service from Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, on 20th April 2025.
During a reception in Mumbai marking the launch of the new service, Peter Foster, CE0 of Air Astana Group commented, “With the Indian economy growing strongly, Air Astana is delighted to launch services to Mumbai, a vibrant and flourishing metropolis driven by trade, finance and enterprise. Business and leisure travellers will now be able to experience the excellence of Air Astana’s in-services when flying between Kazakhstan’s and India’s most commercial cities.”

Since entering the Indian market in 2004, the airline has steadily expanded its presence and currently operates nine weekly flights to Delhi from Almaty, with a regular increase in frequencies during the summer.
Air Astana Group is the largest airline group in Central Asia and the Caucasus regions by revenue and fleet size. The Group operates a fleet of 60 aircraft split between Air Astana, its full-service airline that operated its inaugural flight in 2002, and FlyArystan, its low-cost airline established in 2019.

Air Astana has launched its inaugural Mumbai-Almaty flight on April 20th 2025 with 3 frequencies. First flights Almaty-Delhi launched in September 2004 and operates 11 times per week in the summer and 9 times per week during the winter season.
The schedule and frequencies make it convenient for point-to-point travel — both for leisure, MICE, and corporate traffic — as well as for connecting Mumbai with Central Asian and Caucasus destinations such as Bishkek, Tashkent, Tbilisi, Baku, and westbound cities via Almaty like Frankfurt and London.

With seamless domestic connections from major cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat and Kolkata, passengers can easily reach Mumbai and board our direct flights to Almaty.

A variety of passenger types travel to Almaty and the Central Asian region: Families, individual travellers, corporate clients, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events), wedding groups, youth travellers, and, of course, students — especially those studying at medical universities in CIS countries.
Indian citizens travel to Kazakhstan visa-free. Kazakhstan citizen travel to India with online visa, on purposes like Medical tourism/ Leisure/ Ayurveda retreat.
Air Astana, as a full-service airline, offers two classes of service: Business and Economy. All passengers enjoy complimentary on-board meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
