Tourists planning to go on a road trip this February should have a look at some of the most scenic coastal routes across the UK. Motoring experts at LeaseLoco.com have named the seven best road trip routes for those looking for sea views, sandy beaches, and dramatic cliffs and coves.
While now may not be the most popular time of year for seaside escapes, families who want to soak up the views and visit beaches and towns without the crowds can take advantage of these quieter months for a coastal road trip. Each route offers a mix of breathtaking scenery, family-friendly stopping points, and iconic landmarks, ensuring a memorable half-term trip for everyone.

The list includes famous routes such as Scotland’s North Coast 500, Cornwall’s Atlantic Highway and the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, but it also features quieter stretches of coastline to explore.

Here are the UK’s seven best coastal routes perfect for half-term road trips:
1. Atlantic Highway
The Atlantic Highway (A39) is a 70-mile strip, running from Barnstaple to Newquay. It’s a stunning drive that traces the rugged coastline of Cornwall and Devon, offering views of beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs, and quaint fishing villages like Padstow and Port Isaac. Other pit stops along the route include medieval Tintagel Castle and captivating resort town Bude.
2. North Coast 500
Often called ‘Scotland’s Route 66′, North Coast 500 (NC500) is a 516-mile circular route that starts and ends at Inverness Castle. Northumberland 250 takes you on a 250-mile loop around Northumberland.
