Nature’s Playground unveils its tantalising festive programme, with traditions wrapped up in island style and uniquely Niyama intrigue. Throughout the season, guests are invited to give in to indulgence, with daily tantalising culinary experiences, expertly paired with award-winning wines from our selection, spa bliss & holistic treatments with visiting practitioners from around the world.
With two islands, nine restaurants, settings overwater, under, and deep in the jungle, Niyama Private Islands Maldives invites guests to celebrate the festive season their way, whether hiding away from the world, or diving right into a surreal world of celebration.
The season begins with the annual lighting up of the Christmas tree. As the sun sets, it shines bright, and the sound of carols and aroma of mulled wine fills the air. Next up, the Christmas market, with gifts to buy, games to play, and eggnog and mince pies to enjoy.
Christmas Eve is a spectacular affair, with island-style feasting meaning unlimited seafood – on ice, drizzled in exotic spices, or juicy from the grill – along with the traditional turkey, ham and trimmings. Christmas Day is then a time for family, with a laidback champagne breakfast. In the afternoon, a visit from Santa with fun and games on the beach.
Family fun is non-stop, with gingerbread houses and Christmas trees to decorate, an elf tea party, and family movie nights on the beach with S’mores on the fire.
The anticipation then builds to Niyama’s best New Year’s Eve yet – as the Carnival comes from Rio to the Maldives via the Caribbean. The night begins with dressing up, then cocktails as the sun sets for the last time of 2023. There will be wining, creations from our Executive Chef Thierry Vergnault that fire up the imagination, and stage magic with the razzle and dazzle of The Greatest Showman. As midnight strikes, fireworks burst over the ocean, followed by dancing on the beach through the night and into a new dawn.
Throughout the festive season, exquisite events are there to tempt, whether wine tasting half a kilometre out to sea, braai barbecues under the full moon, or after dark DJ parties six metres below the ocean’s surface.
Guests can stay active with tennis masterclasses by visiting Alena Vasileva and personal training by Shaun Stafford or retreat within with yoga by Emily Moak and chi nei tsang by Azusa Segawa.
