After nearly 2 years of border closures in Fiji, the wait is over!

India has been included as part of Fiji’s ‘Travel Partner Country’ list by Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism & Transport – Fiji, effective 2nd March 2022. From 1 December 2021, Fiji is open to fully vaccinated travellers from Travel Partner Countries without a pre-approval. This list is constantly being updated.

Thus, Indian Tourists can now travel to Fiji to enjoy a “quarantine free” holiday in this picturesque paradise known for its incredible scenery and warm, welcoming people.

With multiple transit countries open for Indian travellers, getting to Fiji is easier than you think! Currently the quickest routes to Paradise are through the transit hubs of Singapore and Australia.

Travel Requirements

In order to protect both Fiji and its visitors, few simple procedures are required prior to traveling and during your stay in the country. These include:

  1. Proof of vaccination. A 14-day waiting period prior to travel following full vaccination applies. Fiji COVID-19 recognised vaccines include AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, Nuvaxovid (Novavax), Coronavac (Sinovac), Covishield, BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm), Covaxin and Sputnik V.
  2. A negative RT-PCR test taken within 2 days prior to departure, or a negative RAT test taken within 24 hours prior to departure.
  3. A mandatory RAT test at a CFC certified resort 2 days after arrival in Islands.
  4. Pre-paid itinerary: Travellers must produce proof of minimum 3 nights pre-paid accommodation at a Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) certified property (hotel/resort) which must also include CFC certified transport from the airport.
  5. Travellers must have stayed in a Travel Partner country for at least 14 consecutive days prior to coming to Fiji.
  6. All foreign passport holders must have medical travel insurance, with international coverage that covers COVID-19 before travelling. Travellers with existing insurance must present evidence of the cover not excluding COVID-19. Alternatively, travellers may opt for FijiCare COVID-19 travel insurance offered to travellers from Travel Partner countries.

Fiji’s entry conditions constitute an agile, risk mitigating proposition built on a common purpose to resume international travel and tourism. It draws inspiration from the Fijian COVID-Safe Economic Recovery Framework, and the core principles of stopping virus importation, ensuring health system readiness, and COVID-proofing Fijian businesses and society at-large.

Care Fiji Commitment

Tourists can travel to Fiji with full confidence thanks to the Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) a World Health Organization-approved program with best-practice health and safety measures in place. These industry-wide standards apply to accommodation, activity operators and transfers and include the appointment of Wellness Ambassadors to ensure that COVID-safe protocols are managed, monitored and staff trained across their business.  All CFC Businesses are 100% vaccinated.

There are also some ‘Safe Travel Areas’, those deemed to have an acceptable percentage of the local eligible population fully vaccinated with enhanced community surveillance and access to medical facilities and health care.
