Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara is launching an even greener foundation with a host of new sustainability initiatives that build upon a broad platform of existing energy and carbon-saving practices, staying strong to its sustainable luxury ethos. The resort will completely phase out plastic water bottles by the end of April 2021, replacing them with biodegradable bottles. The sustainable material is made from corn, where lactic acid is extracted and converted into 100% plant resin, which biodegrades in 80 days. Recycled in bio-degradable bins, it either goes to composting or is reused to make new plant resin bottles. The property went 100% plastic straw-free back in 2018. Emirates, Etihad partner IATA to launch digital Travel Pass

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is partnering with Emirates and Etihad Airways, the two flag carriers of the UAE to become the first airlines in the world to trial IATA Travel Pass – a mobile app to help passengers easily and securely manage their travel in line with any government requirements for COVID-19 testing or vaccine information. IATA Travel Pass enables Emirates and Etihad Airways passengers to create a ‘digital passport’ to verify their pre-travel test or vaccination meets the requirements of the destination. They will also be able to share the test and vaccination certificates with authorities and airlines to facilitate travel. Miral, Abu Dhabi's leading curator of experiences, has announced over 40% construction completion of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. In collaboration with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, this landmark project will bring the next generation of marine life theme parks to Yas Island and will be home to the UAE's first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return center providing world-class facilities to support regional and global conservation efforts.
