The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released its 2023 Annual Safety Report for global aviation. Aviation continues to make progress on safety with several 2023 parameters showing “best-ever” results. There were no hull losses or fatal accidents involving passenger jet aircraft in 2023. However, there was a single fatal accident involving a turboprop aircraft, resulting in 72 fatalities. There were 37 million aircraft movements in 2023 (jet and turboprop), an increase of 17% on the previous year. IATA Releases 2020 Safety Report, Details Airline Safety Performance The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced the publication of the 2020 Safety Report and released data for the 2020 safety performance of the commercial airline industry. -The total number of accidents decreased from 52 in 2019 to 38 in 2020.-The total number of fatal accidents decreased from 8 in 2019 to 5 in 2020.-The all accident rate was 1.71 accidents per million flights.
