Cathay carries 2M passengers in a month for first time since pandemic

Cathay Pacific has released its traffic figures for July 2024, which showed that the airline achieved a new milestone by carrying more than two million passengers in a single month for the first time since the pandemic. Cathay Pacific carried a total of 2,008,225 passengers in July 2024, an increase of 15.1% compared with July 2023. The month’s revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) increased 16.1% year on year. Passenger load factor decreased by 3.8 percentage points to 85.5%, while available seat kilometres (ASKs) increased by 21.2% year on year. On 30 June 2024, Cathay Pacific and HK Express together carried about 92,000 passengers combined, the highest daily number since the pandemic. In the first six months of 2024, the two airlines carried a total of approximately 13.5 million passengers. Cathay Pacific has continued its positive momentum at the start of the year by announcing a number of exciting new developments. Passenger numbers have further improved after the Lunar New Year holidays; airlines carried more than 1.1 million passengers last month averaging almost 40,000 per day.
