Northern Thailand’s latest attraction marks an year of unveiling the extraordinary vessel

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort has official opened the Dibba Yana Chitta Museum, marking one year since the unveiling of Dibba Yana Chitta — an extraordinary vessel created by Thailand’s acclaimed National Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, recognised for Wat Rong Khun, or the world-famous White Temple of Chiang Rai.

The museum showcases nine meticulously crafted scale models of Dibba Yana Chitta and honours the artistry of Chalermchai Kositpipat and Charoen Maboot, a master bronze-casting artisan from Phayao province, whose collaboration brought Dibba Yana Chitta to life — a creation designed to inspire and preserve Thai artistic heritage for future generations.

To commemorate this milestone, Anantara Chiang Mai Resort introduces the Dibba Yana Chitta Collector’s Edition — a limited series of 19 handcrafted models. These exclusive pieces offer collectors a rare opportunity to own an object d’art that embodies spiritual depth and exceptional Thai craftsmanship.

Dibba Yana Chitta is one of three vessels in Anantara Chiang Mai Resort’s JAO Ping River Cruise fleet, offering immersive journeys along the Mae Ping River. Signature experiences include the Morning Voyage to Wat Ket Karam, the indulgent Afternoon Tea Cruise, the picturesque Sunset Cruise, and the Dibba Yana Chitta Dinner Cruise — an evening of live music, classical dance, and fine dining.

The dinner cruise now features a newly launched menu by Michelin-starred Chef Boy Piyachart Phuttawong of Saneh Jaan, Bangkok. Inspired by royal recipes from the early Rattanakosin period and harmonised with Chiang Mai flavours, the menu is available throughout the festive season.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Rattaphol Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai, with Chalermchai Kositpipat in attendance to share insights into the artistic philosophy and creative journey behind this singular work.

The Dibba Yana Chitta Museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm by reservation. Guests may explore the exhibition, purchase memorabilia, or reserve a Collector’s Edition model.

As the capital of the ancient Lanna kingdom, Chiang Mai overflows with cultural discoveries, from traditional Buddhist temples and handicraft collectives to a decidedly contemporary art and cafe scene. Surrounding the city, adventure awaits, whether trekking through the mountains to elephant sanctuaries and hilltribe villages or soaring over them in a hot-air balloon.

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort offers boutique contemporary luxury on the banks of the Mae Ping River, just five minutes from the Night Bazaar and 15 minutes from the airport.
