Lingaraj Temple reopens for devotees after nine months

Lingaraj Temple at Bhubaneswar reopened for devotees on Sunday after remaining closed for almost nine months due to COVID-19 pandemic, officials said. Servitors and their family members were allowed entry into the oldest shrine of the state capital on the first day. They will be allowed to pray inside the temple till December 31, while the general public from outside the state capital will be allowed from January 6. The residents of Bhubaneswar can have the darshan of the Lord from January 3. ‘Thanka Anki’ reaches Sabarimala Temple

The ceremonial procession carrying 'Thanka Anki', the sacred golden attire to be adorned on Lord Ayyappa during the auspicious Mandala puja, reached Sabarimala temple on Friday evening. As COVID-19 protocols were in place, only a few people, instead of the hundreds of ardent devotees usually seen, could accompany the annual procession. Jageshwar temple is located 36 km northeast of Almora, in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Jageshwar is located at an altitude of 1870 mts, in the Jataganga river valley in midst of a dense Deodar forest. Jageshwar is believed to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Nageshvara Jyotirlinga. The famous Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, which was closed over five months ago after the outbreak of the coronavirus, opened for devotees on Sunday, with a "moderate" number of people visting the shrine to pay obeisance to the Sufi saint. Much awaited event of Yatra takes place at Latu temple atop a hill at Waan village. This village and the dance are one of the most important events of the Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra, that happens once in minimum 12 years. The last of this 'Himalayan Kumbh', as it is called, started on 18th August 2014 and concluded on 7th September 2014. This 20 day, 290 km pilgrimage passes through some of the most beautiful and tough trekking routes in this part of Himalayan ranges.
